What you will learn
Nursing fundamentals and patient care
A nurse sees small changes first. Careful watching saves lives.
Nursing care starts with respect, safe handling and clear records. Vital signs are temperature, pulse, breathing rate, blood pressure and oxygen level. Infection control uses hand hygiene, gloves, clean equipment and correct disposal of waste. Medication safety follows the rights: right patient, drug, dose, route and time. Report any change in the patient to the doctor quickly and write notes in the chart. Keep patient information private. This lesson is general learning, not medical advice: always follow your hospital's protocols and the doctor's orders.
Interview tip: Prepare an example of when you noticed a change in a patient and what you reported.
Patient safety and communication
Most hospital mistakes come from missed messages, not missing skill.
Patient safety means preventing harm. Use two identifiers to confirm the patient, prevent falls, store medicines safely and separate biomedical waste by colour code. A clear handover between shifts uses a method such as SBAR: situation, background, assessment, recommendation. Take consent before procedures and explain in simple words in the patient's language. Respect privacy and dignity. Basic life support (BLS) is a key skill. NABH standards guide quality in Indian hospitals. Report errors and near misses honestly so the system learns.
Interview tip: Be ready to explain SBAR and one safety rule you always follow.
Hospital operations and medical office roles
Behind each treatment, a team handles forms, bills, records and supplies.
Hospitals need non clinical staff too. Front office staff register patients and guide visitors politely. Billing staff prepare bills and handle insurance and TPA (third party administrator) claims, which need correct documents and diagnosis codes. Medical records keep files safe and private. Pharmacy and laboratory staff follow storage and testing rules. Medical coding turns diagnoses and procedures into standard codes. Good communication, accuracy and privacy are the main skills. This is career information, not medical advice.
Interview tip: Prepare to explain how you would keep records accurate and private.
